I grew up in a very active family that introduced me to multiple sports at a young age. I have played volleyball, basketball and competitive travel softball since I was 9 years old. Then I continued playing two collegiate years of softball and one of volleyball at Hartnell College, where I was first introduced to a strength training and lifting program. I then attended CSU Monterey Bay, where I continued to play softball while studying Kinesiology.
Even though softball was my passion, I directed my focus to pursue a different passion of mine involving school, work and my internship through the CSU, Monterey Bay strength and conditioning athletic program. I interned for a year and during this time I had the opportunity to work with and coach collegiate athletes while having the perspective of being an athlete myself. I learned techniques in Olympic-style weightlifting, powerlifting, sport specific strength training, mobility work and injury prevention exercises. I also worked at a physical therapy clinic for two years as an aide. This helped me gain knowledge in rehabilitation, injury prevention and functional training for all age populations.
I enjoyed my time helping and getting to see patients' progression through their recovery journey. This new perspective and experience was very rewarding and I wanted to share my knowledge from both fields in order to benefit others. This also confirmed my passion to teach others how to achieve their goals to a healthier and stronger lifestyle. It is my job to use my experience and knowledge to help others achieve whatever their goals might be and maintain a healthy way of life.
